Lasting Impressions

A dramatic powder room is a special way to say “you are welcome” to your guests. Viewed from outside of the space, this small room presents as a large piece of artwork when framed by the door. It should be inviting and intriguing. Once inside, it is an intimate setting that makes a BIG statement about your home.
From a distance, bold color and reflectives capture your attention. It is exquisite from 15 feet away and continues to hold your attention as you are drawn inside. Upon closer inspection, the details become even more apparent. A dimensional application technique known as “lacing” provides a sophisticated and tactile quality. After spending a few moments of “private time” in this bath, guests will return with a smile. It is a memorable experience that leaves a lasting impression.
The design process:
This homeowner loves red. This color is incorporated into every room in the home . . . even if just an occasional accessory. A small space like this was an opportunity for her to make red the primary color of the room. But plain paint would not do. This was going to be a SPECIAL red. All of the rooms nearby were very formal. Introducing gold into this faux finish gave the walls the elegance she wanted.
When choosing a metallic finish, a major consideration is the way the light reflects off of the surface. It must be beautiful at night as well as during the day. It is necessary to determine the recipe for a reflective faux finish while in the actual space. That is the best way to make sure it will be lovely from every vantage point in all lighting conditions. Ultimately, it is your personal piece of custom art.
Kass your work never stops amazing me. This is a brilliant way to use red without overpowering the room. I simply love the beautiful technique! I always look forward to your next update. Love the new improvements in your website!
